HC Deb 02 November 1966 vol 735 c93W
68. Mr. Hooson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he intends to take to assist hill farmers, in view of the exceptionally low prices paid for this year's lamb crop and weanlings cattle.

Mr. Peart

Hill farmers are assisted directly by the hill subsidies. Many of them also get the calf subsidy, and all benefit indirectly from that subsidy and the fatstock guarantees. The levels of these production grants and price guarantees are matters for the Annual Review where, of course, profitability is taken into account.
