HC Deb 02 November 1966 vol 735 c88W
29. Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether, in view of the contribution cereal producers make to the nation's balance of payments, he will seek to provide additional investment allowances for combines, grain driers and on farm storage facilities.

Mr. John Mackie

Under the provisions of the Agriculture Bill now before the House self-propelled combine harvesters which are licensed can qualify for the new 10 per cent. investment grants which replace the former investment allowances, now discontinued; while fixed grain driers and storage on full-time farms can qualify for the 5 per cent. supplement as well as the 25 per cent. grant under the Farm Improvement Scheme, or for the 10 per cent. investment grant as appropriate. The new arrangements for agriculture were agreed with the industry.
