HC Deb 02 November 1966 vol 735 c89W
53. Sir F. Pearson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what reduction he estimates in home production of beef from the dairy herds, following the fall in the store price of cattle.

Mr. Peart

The number of calves slaughtered as bobbies throughout this year has shown some increase over last year. One main reason for this is that some of the extra calves retained from the dairy herd during the past two years have proved unsuitable for beef. This should not seriously affect progress towards our objective in the National Plan.
