§ Mr. Maxwell-Hyslopasked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the fact that, as an alternative to third party insurance under the Road Traffic Acts, the sum required to be deposited with the Registrar of the Supreme Court, or covered by a certificate of indemnity, is only £10,000, she will seek to amend the law so as to bring this sum into line with the level for damages for personal injury currently awarded by the courts.
§ Mr. John MorrisThe facility under which the sum of £15,000 may be deposited with the Supreme Court as an alternative to insurance against third party risks is not widely used, and there is no evidence that it has prevented anyone recovering in full any compensation awarded to him. But we will bear the hon. Member's point in mind.
