Dr. Bennettasked the Minister of Transport why road works are being carried out on the A27 at Fareham throughout the working day, causing traffic jams three miles long; and if she will ensure that such works, unconnected with the maintenance of this road, should be carried out at night.
§ Mr. John MorrisI assume the hon. and gallant Member is referring to traffic relays during the week starting 9th May when works, mainly by public utility services took longer than expected. Work on one job continued into the night but the extra cost and disturbance cannot normally be justified.
