Mr. Hoggasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what consideration he has given to the complaint of Mr. Desmond Plummer, former Mayor of Marylebone, about the inadequacy of police precautions to protect unaccompanied women in the neighbourhood of Marlborough Place, St. John's Wood; and what action he will take: and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsI understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that in the past six months there112W have been four attacks on women in this vicinity during the hours of darkness. Special attention is being given to this area particularly by means of additional plain clothes patrols. The local residents were invited by the police to a conference on 28th April at which the crime position was discussed and advice given.
