§ 84. Mr. Hefferasked the Minister of Transport if she will introduce legislation to bring in new forms of democratic management in the railways industry.
§ Mrs. CastleI want to have the advice of representatives of the workers at the formative stage in the evolution of the Government's new policies for the railways and I am already having talks with the Unions concerned. It is too early to say precisely what legislation will be needed to give effect to these policies. Better co-operation between management and staff is also one of the aims of the discussions on which the Government is now engaged with representatives of the British Railways Board and the Unions.
