HC Deb 11 May 1966 vol 728 c99W
Mr. Ronald Atkins

asked the Minister of Overseas Development to what extent aid to Laos is being continued for the purchase of necessary imports.

Mr. Greenwood

Under an Exchange of Notes signed at Vientiane on 17th May, 1963, the Government of the United Kingdom undertook to make available to the Royal Government of Laos a grant of up to £1 million a year for three years to cover the import into Laos of essential commodities made in the United Kingdom. Her Majesty's Government have recently informed the Government of Laos of their intention to continue the programme for a further year on the same scale.

£800,000 has been included in the Overseas Aid (Bilateral) Estimate for the current financial year.
