HC Deb 05 May 1966 vol 727 cc143-4W
Q10. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister what is the policy of the Government regarding the practice that members of Her Majesty's Government should on taking office give up all outside appointments and employment not connected with their Ministerial office and duties connected therewith; and whether this applies to Members of both Houses of Parliament at present holding Ministerial office.

The Prime Minister

Ministers are guided by the principle that they must so order their affairs that no conflict arises, or appears to arise, between their private interests and their public duties. This principle applies to Ministers in both Houses of Parliament.
