§ Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will publish separately the figures for criminal offences in those areas where the police forces are being equipped with modern equipment and fully mechanised in order to assess the impact of these measures in the war on crime.
§ Mr. TaverneSeparate figures for offences are already published annually for each police force in the Supplementary Statistics relating to Crime and Criminal Proceedings, but they are not the only factor to be taken into account in the assessment of the results produced by the introduction of new equipment and methods into police forces, which is being carried out by the Home Office Police Research and Planning Branch as well as by chief constables.
