Mr. Prentice

This information is collected at three-yearly intervals. The following is the information available

Mr. Redhead

The information is as follows:

Average Cost per school place—1949–1965
Year Primary Secondary
£ £
1949 195 324
1951 134.7 241.8
1959 147.9 255.6
1964 183.5 327.1
1965 (first half) 188.5 335.5

Most special schools are not costed according to the number of places but on a square footage basis. Little school building was done between 1945 and 1949 and statistical information is not available for this period. The costs used for the National Plan were the current cost limits of £190 and £338 net for primary and secondary places respectively, with the necessary allowances for converting from net cost to gross cost.
