HC Deb 09 March 1966 vol 725 cc518-9W
Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of the proposed developments in the north of Scotland, whether he will reconsider the road development programme for Scotland to provide a trunk road of motorway standard linking Dundee, Aberdeen, and Inverness by the early 1970s.

Mr. Ross

From estimated traffic growth I do not expect any significant overloading of the existing trunk roads linking Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness for some years. Up to 1970 priority must be given to modernising to dual carriageway standards the trunk routes carrying the largest volumes of traffic. Beyond 1970 plans are still flexible, and the claims of the Dundee-Aberdeen-Inverness route will certainly be considered.
