HC Deb 09 March 1966 vol 725 c573W
Mr. Lipton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress has been made with the provision of a remand centre for girls remanded in custody in London and South-East England.

Miss Bacon

My right hon. Friend is arranging as a matter of urgency to provide a remand centre for girls aged under 21 by remodelling the old prison hospital at Holloway. It will be completely separated from the women's prison and is expected to be in use before the end of the year.
