HC Deb 09 March 1966 vol 725 c521W
Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland in what respects the segregation unit proposed at Inverness Prison will differ from the similar enterprise commenced at Peterhead Prison in 1951.

Mr. Willis

The Peterhead unit was a small group in a large prison and could not be effectively isolated from it. The Inverness unit will be completely isolated from the small local prison although within the same wall. We hope, therefore, that the tensions experienced at Peterhead will be avoided.
