HC Deb 09 March 1966 vol 725 c575W
Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what percentage of the United Kingdom food requirements in each of the last five years have been met by home production;

(2) what percentage of the nation's food was foreign-produced in 1963, 1964, and 1965, respectively.

Mr. John Mackie

As indicated in the reply given to the hon. Member on 15th December, about half our food is home-produced. While it is estimated that this was broadly the proportion in each of the years in question, precise figures are not available on an annual basis.
