HC Deb 09 March 1966 vol 725 c587W
Mr. Peter Walker

asked the Minister of Labour what was the average household income and the average household expenditure in Great Britain in October, 1964; and what are the latest comparable figures.

Mr. Thornton

There is no reliable information on the average household income and the average household expenditure in Great Britain in October, 1964, or for any other single month. The average weekly household income and expenditure in the United Kingdom for the year ending June, 1964, were 455 shillings and 397 shillings respectively, and the corresponding figures for the year ending June, 1965, were 483 shillings and 404 shillings.
