§ Mr. HoyThe net price received by milk producers for all milk sold through the marketing schemes in the financial year 1964–65 was 37.5d. a gallon and the 487W average retail price of pasteurised milk was 72d. a gallon. The corresponding figures for 1961–62 were 33.25d. and 64d. a gallon. The difference between the producers price and the retail price is due partly to distribution costs and partly to the loss of milk sold for manufacture at prices below the guaranteed price.
In addition, in 1961–62, there was a small consumer subsidy.
