Beamishasked the Minister of Transport if she is aware of concern in Newhaven that no firm plans to start work on the relief road have been announced, in view of her official recognition of the urgent need for this project; and 308W why the Newhaven Relief Road has not been included in the recently announced programme of major road works schemes.
§ Mr. SwinglerBecause of its cost my right hon. Friend could not include the Newhaven Relief Road in the list of classified road schemes announced on 14th December, 1965. It will be reconsidered later this year for possible inclusion in the next extension of the programme.
