§ 65. Mr. Henigasked the Minister of Transport why abnormal loads are being directed through the centre of Lancaster rather than along the M6 motorway; what is the definition of an abnormal load for this purpose; and for how long the diversion is likely to continue.
§ Mr. SwinglerThe diversion is necessary to maintain a reasonable flow of traffic on the Lancaster by-pass motorway while the third lanes are being built. The loads in question are those over nine feet six inches wide, or fifty feet long or seventy-five tons. The diversion is likely to continue until December, 1966.
