§ Mr. Wingfield Digbyasked the Minister of Transport what reports she has received on the increase in bunching on motorways and main roads as a result of the 70 miles per hour speed limit.
§ Mr. John MorrisMy right hon. Friend has received no reports of bunching on ordinary main roads. The motorways sub-committee of Chief Constables expressed the view that during the first four months of this year, bunching increased during peak traffic hours on some parts of M1 and M6. But this matter is difficult to assess objectively and is still being studied.
