§ Mr. Simon Mahonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what action has ben taken to further implement Circular No. 49/64 in so far as it affects school children in overcrowded industrial areas; and if he will consult with the Secretary of State for Education and Science with a view to providing more playing space for children during holidays.
§ Mr. MellishIt is for the local authorities, including the local education authorities, to take action in co-operation where necessary, to secure the maximum possible use of suitable playing spaces and sports installations both by children and adults. My Department is in constant touch with the Department of Education and Science on this matter, and such further guidance as may be necessary will be given.
