§ 72. Mr. Mackintoshasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the recent fatal accidents at the Cockenzie power station site, he will direct the South of Scotland Electricity Board to include in all contracts over £5 million a clause stipulating that a site safety officer must be employed from the start of construction and that extra safety officers must be engaged if Her Majesty's Inspector of Factories considers that one such officer is insufficient or the size of the site and the number of hazards involved.
§ Mr. RossNo. The safety of workers on constructional sites is entirely the responsibility of individual contractors50W and they are subject to the safety regulations administered by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour through Her Majesty's Factory Inspectorate.
