§ Mr. William Priceasked the Minister of Transport whether she is aware of increasing traffic congestion on the former Midland Railway line between Birmingham and Gloucester; and whether she will ensure the retention of the alternative route provided by the former Great Central Railway, along which much of this traffic formerly flowed via Leicester, Rugby and Banbury, to provide for the additional railway freight traffic of the future.
§ Mrs. CastleThe British Railways Board tells me that there has been no serious traffic congestion on the line between Birmingham and Gloucester. It is 349W for the Board to decide the routes upon which their freight traffic is carried, and to assess the operational adequacy of such routes for present and future needs.
