§ Mr. Maxwellasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what conclusion he has reached on the suggestion made by the National Board for Prices and Incomes in its recent report on the brewing industry for an inquiry into how best to maintain control over the sale of alcoholic liquor without at he same time impeding the entry of new competitors into the industry.
§ Mr. PeartMy right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade has today announced that he is referring to the Monopolies Commission the supply of beer to licensed premises. In the circumstances. the Government have decided to defer consideration of an inquiry as recommended by the National Board for Prices and Incomes until the Commission has submitted its report.
