HC Deb 29 July 1966 vol 732 cc350-1W
Mr. Gorden

asked the Minister of Transport what is the latest estimate of traffic load on the M.1 motorway; and what is the estimated traffic expected in 1972.

Mr. Swingler

The average daily flow on the most heavily loaded section of M1 is now about 34,000 vehicles per day and is likely to be about 50,000 vehicles per day by 1972.

Mr. Gurden

asked the Minister of Transport what plans she has for widening the M1 motorway or providing additional roads for the increased traffic.

Mr. Swingler

The needs of increased traffic on Ml, as on other inter-urban roads, will be taken into account in my right hon. Friend's plans for the development of the inter-urban road system in the 1970s.
