HC Deb 29 July 1966 vol 732 c353W
Mr. Lubbock

asked the Minister of Transport what proposals have been submitted to her by London Transport for connecting Heathrow Airport to the underground system; when she expects to make a decision on these proposals; and by what date she estimates the link underground line will be in operation, assuming that the necessary Private Bill is passed in the present Session of Parliament.

Mr. Swingler

The proposal before us is for a link from London (Heathrow) Airport to the Piccadilly line at Hounslow West. It, and other forms of airport link, are being examined in the Transport Co-ordinating Council for London. The issues involved in the various proposals go wider than the providing of a transport link and it will take some time to assess them fully. The earliest possible operating date for the Hounslow link would be 1971.
