HC Deb 29 July 1966 vol 732 c345W
Mr. Weatherill

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government (1) how many local authorities had deficits on their housing revenue accounts in the financial year for which the latest figures are available; what is the overall amount of deficit; and what is the deficit for the Greater London Council and for the 32 London boroughs;

(2) whether he will set out in HANSARD the deficit on the housing revenue account for those of the London boroughs under the London Government Act, 1963, which had deficits on their housing revenue accounts for the latest available dates.

Mr. MacColl

In 1963–64, 347 authorities in England had deficits; the total amount was £13,800,000.

The information asked for about the Greater London Council and London boroughs is not available. The new London authorities did not begin to function until April, 1965, and no financial returns have yet been received.
