HC Deb 28 July 1966 vol 732 cc310-1W
30. Mr. Iremonger

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what forecast he has made of the shortage of secondary school places in Redbridge over the next 14 years; why he has refused approval to the Redbridge Borough Council for the proposed senior comprehensive school in Loxford Lane in its 1967–68 building programme; and if he will now make a statement on the borough's plans for the reorganisation of secondary education which were recently submitted to him.

Mr. Crosland

Estimates of future needs are a matter for the Local Education Authority. The proposed senior comprehensive school in Loxford Lane did not have a sufficiently high priority to be included in the approved 1967–68 Major Building Programme. The Authority's detailed proposals for reorganisation of secondary education have only recently been received and are under consideration.
