HC Deb 28 July 1966 vol 732 c319W
Mr. Winnick

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress has been made in talks with the Traffic Wardens' Organisation in order that traffic wardens can be used for school crossing patrol services in Croydon.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

Traffic wardens can already be employed as school crossing patrols throughout the country, but it is for the chief officer of police to decide how he will dispose the manpower available to him. The Commissioner of Police informs my right hon. Friend that he hopes shortly to complete discussions as to the use of traffic wardens as school crossing patrols in Croydon.
