asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps he is taking to consult Welsh local education authorities about the application to Wales of the White Paper on polytechnics and other colleges.

My right hon. Friend is already in consultation on this subject with the Welsh Joint Education Committee which acts as the Regional Advisory Council for Further Education in Wales.
