HC Deb 28 July 1966 vol 732 cc326-7W
76. Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why it took him two calendar months to decide that a letter from the hon. Member for South Angus, addressed to him, should be referred to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for reply; and what steps he is taking to prevent a recurrence of this delay.

Mr. Callaghan

I regret the delay that took place in sending the hon. Member's letter or. to the Minister of Agriculture, which was due to an oversight whilst dealing with the large volume of correspondence that was received in the Treasury during May and June. As this has now slackened-off, the arrears are being rapidly overcome.
