asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the disparity between the proposed annual savings in the domestic economy and overseas, he will announce further measures to provide additional economies on foreign expenditure, especially in the military field.

Mr. Diamond

The saving of at least £100 million in Government expenditure overseas will be very important for the balance of payments. We shall continue to seek specific economies where practicable.
