asked the Minister of Labour what is the average current level of earnings in the forestry industry; by what percentage it has changed over the past 12 months; what are the estimated number of employees affected; and if he will make a statement.

Information on earnings for the whole industry is not available. Earnings of Forestry Commission industrial staff, including women, boys and girls average about £688 per annum, 3 per cent. more than in the previous year.

The estimated number of employees in employment in the forestry industry at mid-June, 1965, the latest date for which estimates have been made, was 20,500.
