HC Deb 27 July 1966 vol 732 cc278-9W
Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many firefighting schools are now in use by the services; where they are situated and how many are used by more than one service.

Mr. Ennals

The Royal Navy has schools at Culdrose and Portsmouth, the latter of which also caters for the Merchant Navy. There is no Army school, and training is carried out by contract at the Surrey Fire Brigade School, Reigate. The Royal Air Force has schools at Catterick and Manston. Army fire fighting personnel who are employed at Army airfields are trained at the latter.
