HC Deb 27 July 1966 vol 732 c305W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations whether he will instruct the United Kingdom High Commissioner in New Zealand to give appropriate publicity to the position of British pensioners in New Zealand under the proposed new Double Taxation Agreement.

Mr. Bottomley

A press statement issued by the New Zealand Government on the occasion of the signing of the United Kingdom/New Zealand Double Taxation Agreement on 13th June made it clear that when the new Agreement comes into force pensioners will be taxed only in the country of residence. This was widely reported in the New Zealand press. The British High Commissioner in Wellington has received no enquiries on this subject recently. It seems therefore that pensioners already understand their taxation position.
