HC Deb 27 July 1966 vol 732 cc291-2W
112 and 113. Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what progress is being made to giving approval on the grounds of productivity to the use of the automatic latched petrol nozzle; what research is being undertaken into the matter; and if he will make a statement;

(2) when he expects the report of the appropriate committee on the use of the latched petrol nozzle.

Miss Bacon

The Standing Advisory Committee on Dangerous Substances has considered the draft of the revised Model Code of Principles of Construction and Licensing Conditions for Petroleum Storage, which includes a reference to these nozzles; and has arranged for a technical sub-committee to examine it in detail. The sub-committee, on which are representatives of government departments, the local authorities and the oil industry, will no doubt make such inquiries as it considers necessary. It is too early to say when the sub-committee will be able to report, but I recognise the need for speed in this matter.
