asked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether in view of Her Majesty's Government's new policy, he will give an assurance that no further additional furniture or equipment will be installed in the Palace of Westminster during the next 12 months.

No, but only essential new furniture or equipment will be provided.

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether, in view of Her Majesty's Government's new policy, he will now ensure that no further building alterations are made internally or externally to the Palace of Westminster.

Mr. Prentice

No, but only those alterations which are essential for the efficient working of Parliament, will be put in hand.
