HC Deb 25 July 1966 vol 732 c208W
Sir N. Cooper-Key

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is aware that the condition of the beach on the Fishing Stade at Hastings is a matter requiring urgent attention; and what steps his Department proposes to take to rectify the problem, which threatens the livelihood of local fishermen, and which, if not given early care, will result in heavy reparation costs.

Mr. Hoy

I know of the erosion of the beach on the Fishing Stade at Hastings. It is for the Borough Council to deal with it, and I understand that they have taken steps to do so. My Department has already agreed in principle to make a substantial grant towards the cost of acceptable proposals calculated to provide a permanent solution.
