HC Deb 22 July 1966 vol 732 cc165-6W
Mrs, Lena Jeger

asked the Minister of Transport what consideration she has given to proposals made to her for reducing street accidents in the Robert Street, Camden, area, by the provision of traffic signals at the junction with Hampstead Road and of a pedestrian crossing, and by limitations on parking or by other means.

Mr. Swingler

I am deeply sorry about the recent accident to a child in Robert street.

An Order is being made, subject to the consent of the Greater London Council, restricting waiting and loading in Robert Street near its junction with Little Albany Street; and pedestrian guard rails are to be installed near the public library.

On present evidence a pedestrian crossing in Robert Street would not be justified. The Greater London Council, as highway authority for Hampstead Road, is currently examining the possibility of traffic signals at the junction with Robert Street.
