Mr. Biffen

asked the Minister of Labour if he will publish a table showing regional activity rates similar to Table 3.1 in the National Plan, for the most recently available date.

The percentage rates given in the Table were based on data from the 1961 Census of Population. Corresponding figures for April, 1966, will be obtainable from the results of the recent sample Census.

asked the Minister of Labour if he possesses sufficient statistical data collected on a sample basis to enable the regular publication of tables of activity rates similar to Table 3–1 in the National Plan, but in greater regional detail.

Regional activity rates are published annually in the Ministry of Labour Gazette (see March and July, 1965 issues) and the Annual Abstract of Regional Statistics.

These express the mid-year estimates of employees (including registered unemployed) as percentages of the estimated home population aged 15 and over and so are not directly comparable with Census-based activity rates.
