§ Mr. Gwilym Robertsasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will introduce legislation to remove the anomaly in the Rating Act 1966 whereby the rates of a garage not directly adjacent to a house cannot be paid by instalments.
§ Mr. MacCollThe rates on an independent garage will normally be small and local authorities are free to accept payment by instalments if they think fit. My right hon. Friend sees no need for further provision.
