HC Deb 21 July 1966 vol 732 c125W
59. Mr. Fortescue

asked the President of the Board of Trade why he applies different considerations when deciding whether a freight-carrying aircraft of foreign make should be imported duty-free from those which he applies in respect of a passenger-carrying aircraft; what those different considerations are; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Darling

The criteria are the same in both cases: the Board have to be satisfied that no similar aircraft are procurable in the United Kingdom before they can recommend remission of duty.
