HC Deb 20 July 1966 vol 732 c94W
Sir J. Gilmour

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what investigations he has carried out since the last Price Review to ascertain the costs of growing sugar beet in Scotland ; and whether he will make a statement on the future prospects of the Cupar factory of the British Sugar Corporation.

Mr. Willis

No fresh information about costs is available since the last Price Review, but discussions on all aspects of sugar beet production in Scotland have recently been held between my Department, the British Sugar Corporation and the Scottish National Farmers' Union. The position is now under consideration.
