HC Deb 20 July 1966 vol 732 cc93-4W
71. Mr. Stodart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether it was possible to stockpile all the eggs produced in the Scottish Islands during the recent strike ; how many had to be broken up ; and what was the value of these.

Mr. Willis

I am informed by the British Egg Marketing Board that during the strike 6,000 cases of eggs accumulated in Orkney and were subsequently shipped to the mainland for breaking out and processing. In addition, all second quality eggs and some first quality eggs produced in Orkney were processed as industrial melange at a loss to the Board of approximately £3,000.
