HC Deb 18 July 1966 vol 732 c13W
Mr. Bryant Godman Irvine

asked the Minister of Health, in view of the increase in venereal disease, what new measures he is introducing to reverse this trend; and what steps he will take to make increased use of the national Press, television, radio and posters for this purpose.

Mr. K. Robinson

My Chief Medical Officer convened a conference in January to discuss the control of venereal diseases. This was attended by experts interested in many aspects of the problem. A working group was set up and is now preparing advice on improving methods of contact tracing. Local authorities make use of posters and films, and my Department supplies information on request for articles in the press and features on television and radio. My right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Education and Science, and I are also considering the production of health education material suitable for use in schools and elsewhere.
