HC Deb 18 July 1966 vol 732 c1W
14. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make representations to the countries of Arabia regarding the boycott against British firms trading with Israel, initiated by the Arab League; and what action he proposes to take to enable British firms to overcome this illegal boycott.

Mr. Padley

As my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade confirmed by my hon. Friend, in reply to his Question on 14th July, Her Majesty's Government have repeatedly made it clear in the past that they disapprove of attempts to interfere with the freedom of British firms to trade with the area. They will continue to do so as occasion warrants.
