asked Her Majesty's Government: Whether they could persuade the Television authorities to spread their news reports more evenly

have tried to express in my Motion, will enable us to make a more substantial contribution to the efficient working of Parliamentary Government in contemporary Britain. I end by saying once again that I am greatly indebted to those who have taken part in this debate. Whatever may be the result of the Division, I hope that it may be conceded to have been of some value in enabling us to consider our own affairs, as we should from time to time, in order to ensure that we conduct our Business to the best profit of the nation as a whole.

The responsibility for the content of programmes rests upon the two broadcasting authorities. Her Majesty's Government cannot therefore accept the noble Lord's proposal.
