HC Deb 04 July 1966 vol 731 c23W
Mr. Tilney

asked the Minister of Overseas Development whether he is satisfied with the functioning of the Overseas Service Aid Scheme in Singapore; how often this scheme has been reviewed since its inception; and what are his plans for regular reviews of the Scheme.

Mr. Oram

As I said in reply to the hon. Member's Question on 28th June, because of difficulty in securing agreement to a first review of inducement allowances, I am discussing the future of the Scheme with the Government of Singapore. Future reviews will depend upon the outcome of these discussions.

Mr. Tilney

asked the Minister of Overseas Development whether, in the case of officers operating under the Overseas Service Aid Scheme in Singapore, he will, by agreement with the Singapore Government. pay, in lieu of a revision of the inducement allowance, a topping-up allowance direct to the officers concerned, and make such an allowance subject to regular review.

Mr. Oram

This question does not at present arise for the reasons which I gave in reply to a Question by the hon. Member on 28th June. I shall, however, keep the matter under review.
