Dr. Bennettasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is aware that the Sarisbury County Secondary Modern School, now designed to accommodate 450 children, has been refused further extension works and yet is to accommodate over 800 children by 1970; and whether he proposes to meet this situation by refusing admissions, by cutting the syllabus of instruction, or by the provision of a new school.
§ Mr. RedheadI would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to him on 4th August, 1965. The numbers of children in the school are 582 and by next summer there will be accommodation sufficient for about 700 children. My right hon. Friend will be prepared to consider any proposal for additional building for the Sarisbury School which the Hampshire Authority put to him when he comes to settle the next round of school building programmes.
