§ Mrs. Shirley Williamsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people detained in prisons died from natural causes and how many from accidents in 1964, and in the first half of 1965.
§ Miss BaconFigures for 1964 are published on pages 50 and 54 of the Report on the Work of the Prison Department for that year, Cmnd. 2708. These show that there were 48 deaths in prison, of which 23 were from natural causes and two were accidental. The corresponding figures for the first half of 1965 were 21, 15 and none.
